As a wife and mother, one way I like showing my family how much I love them is by preparing delicious dishes for them to enjoy every day. Valentine's Day is no exception and because breakfast is the most important meal of the day, I like starting this special occasion with a delicious dessert that includes an ingredient that is synonymous with love… chocolate! This breakfast sounds really elegant, but it's really just French bread stuffed with cream cheese and chocolate cream and made with croissants instead of regular bread. Prepare this sweet treat for your family as their Valentine's Day breakfast or for any other occasion, your family is sure to love it!

Ingredients

  • 6 croissants
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Chocolate and hazelnut cream
  • 1 package (3 oz.) cream cheese, softened

Directions

  •
    1
Use a serrated knife to cut the croissants in half. Cover one half with the chocolate-hazelnut cream and the other half in cream cheese. Put back together to create a sandwich.
  •
    2
Mix the eggs with the milk in a bowl then add the vanilla extract and ground cinnamon. Mix with a whisk or a fork until the eggs are mixed well.
  •
    3
Melt one tablespoon of butter in a nonstick pan over medium-low heat. Dip the stuffed croissants through the eggs and be sure that both sides are covered.
  •
    4
Toast the croissants in the pan, add more butter if necessary and cook until they’ve browned on both sides.
  •
    5
Serve the stuffed croissants with maple syrup or covered in powdered sugar. Serve with fresh, seasonal fruits. Enjoy!
