A hummus recipe is an excellent appetizer for any fiesta or celebration. This favorite dip of Mediterranean cuisine is an easy option to prepare for friends and family. Ingredients

  • 2 cups canned garbanzo beans
  • 1 cup sesame seed paste (tahini)
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, diced
  • 1/2 cup olive oil, good quality
  • 1/3 cup lemon juice
  • Salt, to taste

Directions

    In a food processor or blender, combine the garbanzo beans, sesame seed paste, garlic, cilantro, olive oil, lemon juice and salt together. Blend until the mixture is thick but creamy.

    Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with a bit of olive oil. Accompany with toast or pita bread.

    The garbanzo beans can be substituted for white beans, also known as canellini.
