Making homemade strawberry preserve is a great way to enjoy the flavors of your favorite fruit all year long. Strawberry jam is one of my family’s favorite homemade preserves to make. We enjoy it on toast or baked into our favorite desserts. With this simple technique, making all kinds of homemade preserves recipes can be easy. Add different fruit combinations to make your own recipes for every season of the year. Adorn the jars with cute fabrics and some ribbon, and you have a wonderful homemade gift for friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ripe strawberries, washed and stemmed
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 box Sure-Jell™ Fruit Pectin
  • 5 (8oz) glass mason jars, clean and dried

Directions

  •
    1
Crush the strawberries until you reach your desired consistency. We like our jam slightly chunky.
  •
    2
Add 4 cups of sugar to the crushed strawberries and let stand for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar incorporates.
  •
    3
In a medium saucepan, combine the water and packet of pectin. Cook until the mixture comes to a rolling boil, about 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  •
    4
Add the pectin mixture to the strawberry one, and stir until sugar is completely dissolved and well incorporated.
  •
    5
Fill mason jars with your homemade strawberry preserves, leaving 1/2 inch room at the top. Store in refrigerator or freezer.
