When I tried this peanut butter atole, I thought it could be a great dessert. Peanut butter has a very comforting flavor for many people, and it goes well with many types of food. This atole is no exception. In order to find the perfect balance between sweetness and flavor, you can use Nature Valley™ Peanut Sweet & Salty Nut bars, which are just granola bars with a peanut butter base. When you crush them and add them to milk, you get a sweet, thick and delicious drink. Try it, I’m sure your children will love it.

Ingredients

  • 4 Nature Valley™ Sweet & Salty Peanut Granola Bar
  • 4 1/2 cups milk, separated
  • 6 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Cheerios™ cereal to decorate

Directions

  • 1
Crush the granola bars using a food processor.
  • 2
Put 4 cups of milk in a pot over high heat. Add the crushed granola and sugar. Mix and bring it to a boil.
  • 3
Dissolve the cornstarch in half a cup of cold milk (it’s really important for the milk to be cold or the cornstarch won’t dissolve), and pour it over the boiling milk. Mix well.
  • 4
Boil over medium heat for 5 minutes until you get the desired consistency.
  • 5
Decorate with Cheerios™ and serve immediately.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
If the atole is very thick, you can add some water or milk until you get the right consistency.
  • tip 2
Try preparing this atole with almond milk instead of regular milk. If the almond milk is sweet, you won’t need to add that much sugar, so you’ll have to adjust the sugar level according to your preferences.
