This Puerto Rican cabbage salad is a delicious combination of cabbage, carrot, avocado and lemon juice. It’s a delicious option for those who are tired of preparing the same old cabbage salad. The lemon not only adds a unique and refreshing flavor, it also prevents the green color of the avocado from becoming brown. This simple salad can accompany any type of dish like carne asada, fried chicken and fish tacos.


  • 3 cups green cabbage, cut into thin strips
  • 1 1/2 cups grated carrot
  • 3 Haas avocados, cut into cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 lemons

    In a medium bowl, mix together the cabbage, carrots and avocado.

    Add the olive oil and the juice of 4 lemons. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste.
