Serving fondue is a wonderful way to gather with friends and family, or even just a special someone. A fondue platter makes a beautiful display and allows for many flavor combinations that is sure to satisfy every palate. Offer a variety of fruit slices, sweet breads or candies arranged around this Spicy Chocolate Fondue – sweet enough for your loved ones, but with an added kick of grown up sophistication. Ingredients

  • 1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup coffee
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 2 to 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz Mexican Chocolate
  • 8 oz Semi-sweet Chocolate

Directions

    In a medium saucepan, heat coffee, whole milk and cinnamon sticks to boil over medium to medium high heat. Stir frequently and cook until mixture has reduced significantly, to about 1/4 of a cup. Add chili powder and cayenne pepper while stirring. Strain; set aside.

    Using a double broiler, melt Mexican and Semi-Sweet Chocolate. Slowly incorporate coffee and milk mixture into chocolate. Stir constantly, making sure chocolate mix does not burn.

    Serve immediately; pairing with slices of pear, kiwi and mango, strawberries and pound cake pieces.

    Don’t throw away the extra chocolate! Use leftover chocolate fondue as chocolate mousse, as a chocolate topping for brownies, cookies or candies.
